How do we prove this draw is fair?

Before anyone buys tickets, we pick a secret number (the seed). We do not show you that number yet. What you see above is a commitment: a fingerprint of the seed. Fingerprints are one-way — after the draw you can check that the revealed seed matches this fingerprint, but nobody can cook up a different seed that produces the same fingerprint.

Each ticket is a numbered seat. If 100 tickets are sold, the seats are 0 through 99. Buying 5 tickets gets you 5 seats in a row.

After ticket sales close we wait for the next Bitcoin block — a public number nobody on this site can choose — and mix that in before picking a seat. That stops anyone who already knows the secret from buying last-minute tickets to steer the remainder.

To pick a winner we turn the seed plus that Bitcoin block into a huge whole number, then take the remainder when that number is divided by the seat count. Same idea as: 17 ÷ 5 is 3 remainder 2 — so seat 2 would win. The remainder is always a whole number from 0 up to one less than the number of seats, so every ticket has an equal shot.

After the live draw we publish the seed and the Bitcoin block hash. Anyone can check:

  1. The fingerprint of the seed still equals this Draw Commitment (we did not swap envelopes).
  2. The Bitcoin block is the first one at or after close time (check any block explorer).
  3. The remainder formula lands on the same winning seat we announced.

If any check fails, the draw was tampered with. After Tuesday the Past Raffles card for this week will include the seed, the block, and the seat number so you can run those checks yourself.
